Matrix Hardware [ Overview ]
EL5000 Controller
The EL5000 series controllers create a new dimension in Access Control Application hardware. There are 4 variants of the EL5000 Series controllers to choose from to fit, mix and match site requirement for flexibility and cost effectiveness. There are 2 (EL5002), 4 (EL5004), 8 (EL5000) and 16 (EL5500) Access Portal variations of the EL5000 Series controller.

These are multi-purpose Controllers, offering a complete solution to meet security requirements for your premises. Each can be configured to work as a Door Access Controller, a Lift Access Controller, a Time-Recording Terminal or a Car Park Controller.  All these controllers are designed to operate collectively to communicate to single software for a multifaceted integrated solution.

EL5000 Series Controller runs on a 32-bit Super-fast Intel 386EX CPU (CISC) with high-speed processing power. It has a built-in 10Mbps 10-base-T Ethernet Native TCP/IP LAN Interface Adapter, which handles peer-to-peer communication between controllers and hosts a computer by using the TCP/IP Internet Protocol. The controller directly connects to an Ethernet bus without the need for a physical LAN Interface (for example, a Terminal Server) which degrades the transmission speed required for high security requirements.

Data transmission speed between a controller and a host computer is one hundred times faster than that of conventional RS232 or RS485 serial communication. Data from a host computer can be downloaded to the EL5000 in a split second. This greatly reduces the time required in operating and maintaining your Access Control Systems, without having to degrade the system performance when your system expands many times in size.

The controller also maximizes methods of configuring an Integrated Security System. Even in a standalone mode (not connected to the Matrix V software), it can become a node of a LAN. This is made possible just by assigning it with an IP address and connecting it to a nearby UTP hub and configuring it via Telnet. This accessibility is made especially to provide engineers with a low-level troubleshooting and diagnostic facility.

The EL5000 Series Controllers is designed for a WAN configuration for global deployment across countries. The EL5000 Series controllers are designed to be scalable to work with Matrix V by ELID for centralized control and monitoring of up to 8,000 Access Portals.

Multiple Application

Each controller can be configured to work as a Door, Lift, Car Park Controller or a Time Recording Terminal, hence you don’t need to obtain different controllers for specific purposes.
Providing a maximum of 16 sets access points, each set for IN and OUT readers.

Highly Scalable

With  a wide range of Reader Interface Units (RIUs) & I/O Electronic Field Devices (EFDs) to choose from, the EL5000 Series controller can be applied from single door to multiple door applications with extensive Alarm monitoring for various site requirements

To further enhance its reliability and flexibility, the EL5000 Series Controller is able to monitor its RIUs and EFDs via Star Topology, doing away with conventional Daisy-Chain method. Conventional daisy chain topology suffers loss of communication with devices beyond the breakage point of a communication line.

The EA584 Star Hub can be incorporated into the EL5000 series controller as a 4 port hub for a star configuration of EFD I/O boards and RIUs.

High Performance System

Distributed intelligence and user database for split second processing and credential verification.

EL5000 Series Controller is equipped with high performance processor (32 bit Intel) to handle its large user (100,000) and transaction (160,000) database.

The EL5000 Series Controller handles a maximum of 16 RIUs (32 readers, comprising of IN & OUT readers). In addition to that each EL5000 Series Controller monitors and controls up to 192 inputs 320 outputs.

High Compatibility

It accepts numeric card-number with 14 characters of buffer length. It allows users to define their own card numbers when using Smart Cards or any other types of cards in the market supporting this feature.

EL5000 Series Controller works with a wide choice of Biometric systems or card readers without any hardware modification.

RFID Proximity Readers,
Contactless Smart Card Readers,
Magnetic Readers,
Bar-code Readers
Touch Memory Readers.
Fingerprint
Facial Recognition
Number Plate Recognition

EL5000 series controller supports up to 14 character card number to achieve higher ratio of card number uniqueness.
For Smart Card applications, it enables users to define their own ID Credential numbers to personalize their own identification for high security applications.

EL5000 Series Controller is equipped with a 10Mbps Ethernet LAN Interface port.

It supports peer-to-peer communication between controllers and host computer by using Native TCP/IP Internet Protocol.

Supports Different Operational Cards

EL5000 Series Controller manages 5 types of operational cards

User Card to gain access to protected area

Temporary Card to temporarily replace accidentally lost or misplaced User Cards, etc.
Visitor Card to gain access with specific expiry date, and limiting   number of times of access
Guard Tour Card used for guard patrol monitoring purposes in the Matrix V system
Escort Card used in conjunction with normal user cards in Dual Card mode.
Special Card to arming/activation of input/output points.
Multiple Mode Of Operation

For identification, it supports PIN mode, Card mode and Card+PIN mode. In Card+PIN mode, the PIN can be generated by internal algorithm or chosen by user, up to 80 PIN user codes can be recorded.

If required, Card+PIN mode can be imposed on selected users only, at Time intervals.

A user attempting to access with a card will be locked out if wrong PINs are repeatedly entered.
Support for Dual Card mode.

If required, continuous card-swiping mode on a door reader is available for tracking purposes even when door is opened.

Access Time Zones

128 time zones are provided. Each time zone has an 8-day Schedule (7 weekdays + 1 holiday) with 4 start-stop periods per day.

There are 40 records of Holidays.

There are 99 sets of Global Timers made available.

Users can be assigned to grouped Door Accessibility or even Individual Door Accessibility based on the configurable timers and timezones

Anti Pass-Back On Multiple Access Points

It supports 3 modes of anti pass-back :

  • Hard anti-passback mode prevents double entry or double exit from a protected area.
  • Soft mode enforces anti pass-back by Reader Mode on readers for entry purposes only.
  • Alarm mode tolerates anti-passback violations but provides a special alert to system operators whenever an anti pass back violation takes place, with information on where the violation occurred and by whom. This is in addition to standard transaction logging.

Inter-locking Function

Up to 16 doors can be interlocked. When this function is enabled, only one door can be opened at a time.

Alarm Monitoring

EL5000 Series offers comprehensive Alarm Monitoring features. Conditional I/O operation can be defined to trigger controls on Alarm Inputs, Output Points and Readers. For high security applications, EFD can be used to provide supervised inputs.
Time Attendance Function

Users have the option of incorporating Time Attendance functions to the EL5000, which gathers access behaviour data at door readers to be used with the Matrix V Time Attendance software module. For example, a Business Automation System that uses an SQL database managed by Microsoft SQL Server may easily share data with Matrix V software, integrating card user information with employee information, etc.

Aside from Standards features in found in all Access Control Systems, Matrix V leads the pack by offering the following advanced features for high security requirements.

True Global Anti pass-back zones can be defined with multiple access points across controllers. The controllers communicate on a peer-to-peer level to enforce Global Anti pass-back and independent of the operation and status of the Command Centre.

Time Clock mode is an addition to the mode of operation when using User Cards, whereby, Users, can use their cards to intentionally clock IN/OUT or enter up to 20 Attendance Reason codes into the system via the Access Reader point.

128 bit AES Encryption is employed at various level of communications to ensure secure transmission and security of data from tampering and intrusion of the system.

EL5000 Series Controller is also designed to function in Hot-Standby mode, in the event of Controller failure. The standby Controller, will immediately take over operations as the master controller
